SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training

The Galveston County Health District is hosting the National Weather Service SKYWARN storm spotter training on February 7, 2017.

SKYWARN weather spotters are a group of trained volunteers that watch the skies during severe weather and relay reports back to the National Weather Service (NWS). These spotter reports are crucial for effective warnings and can save lives by validating an existing warning or providing the impetus for issuing a new warning. Skywarn spotter training sessions are free to anyone with an interest in severe weather and in providing these critical reports that contribute to public safety. The training is ideal for ham radio and CERT groups, first responders, dispatchers and private citizens interested in getting involved.
