Food service inspections are performed in accordance with the Galveston County United Board of Health Policy/Order entitled "An Order Establishing Permitting and Enforcement of State Law and Rules for Food Service Establishments, Retail Food Stores, Mobile Food Units and Roadside Vendors." These rules are enforced by the Galveston County Health District Consumer Health Services Division.
Inspection violations carry a demerit value of 3, 2 or 1 point. The higher the demerit value, the greater the likelihood that the violation might lead to an increased probability of food borne illness. Many violations are corrected before the sanitarian leaves the establishment being inspected. Follow up inspections are done as needed to assure compliance with the regulations.
Inspection demerit scores range from 0 to 100 points. A "0" demerit score indicates that no violations were identified during the inspection. Food establishments strive to receive a "0" demerit score on their inspection to show exemplary compliance with the regulations.
DISCLAIMER: INSPECTION REPORTS SHOW SANITARY CONDITIONS AT THE TIME OF THE INSPECTION. CURRENT CONDITIONS MAY BE SUBSTANTIALLY DIFFERENT THAN THE LAST REPORT INDICATES.
